It has been a core strategy. to create a sense of belonging to the new Nansenløkka neighbourhoo , even befare the houses were built. We used the time it took to regulate the area, to initiate pilot projects and embark on a new narrative for Nansenløkka. In 2018, early in the planning process, a temporary common garden was established, simultaneous to the establishment of Fornebu Parsellhageforening with the slogan "Dyrk Fornebu” (Cultivate Fornebu)

The temporary community house was primarily constructed using recycled materials and is self-supplied with electricity from solar panels. The material palette is innovative and experimental; for instance, the roof was clad with repurposed f lat-clamped ventilation ducts. The support structure was crafted from timber sourced in Oslomarka by students from Natur Videregående skole, who also actively participated in the construction process alongside a local builder.

The temporary community house served as a testing ground for circular materials, participation, and the creation of a unique sense of place. All these elements contributed to the building’s distinctive expression and architecture. The process and history of the community house evoke pride and ownership among many. showcasing what was collectively achieved.

Today. a permanent community garden is taking shape at the very same location, A temporary community house was completed the following spring in 2019 and is now replaced by a permanent one. The pilot projects have informed the design of the permanent project and has allowed the neighborhood’s identity to grow in step with the garden and concurrent to our work on the zoning plan.
